“The rooms are comfortable and beautiful, as are the grounds and the views. WOW! The views!! So easy to access trails from the lodge. Beautiful seating areas are all over the property. And it's very quiet! Only issue we had was the lack of hot water and no wi-fi. I'm fine with no wifi but if it's a known thing just let guests know on the website under amenities. It wasn't down, there just isn't any. Tell people. If you enjoy coffee bring your own. There is a communal living area that is lovely for guests. We sat on the porch every sunrise. Restaurant choices in nearby Fort Davis are good since the Lodge has limited service. This lodge is lovely! We felt very lucky to have stayed here.”
“1st visit since the remodel several before) and it looks very nice. Restaurant open breakfast and lunch- breakfast buffet was good, and no room left for another meal.”
“A beautiful place to stay. Historic lodge nicely redone. Staff was great and very accommodating.”
“Unique. It's historic and beautiful and surrounded by the Ft Davis mountains. A Texas treasure not to be missed. One of our best state park experiences.”
“The newly renovated lodge was clean and comfortable. The towels and bed linen were luxurious. The view and atmosphere were beautiful and relaxing. There was no WiFi or cell service in our room, which might concern some people. Breakfast at the Black Bear buffet was perfect! We hope to return.”
“I had a wonderful 4-day stay in one of the original rooms of the lodge. Spectacular views from the room. Furnished with original 1930s CCC furniture made in Bastrop. Original Adobe walls, post and Common Reed ceiling. Beautiful sunrises. Awesome night skies. The common area of the lodge is a great place to meet other visitors and (if you need) connect to the outside world. Three out of four mornings heard the trilling of montezuma quail far off, upward toward the lodge trail at the back of the lodge. I was here to hike trails in this and other areas. Had breakfast each day at the Black Bear, and brought most of my other food with me as options in the area are limited. The staff here are awesome. My stay was an A+. Thinking of returning in '27.”
“Unfortunately, we didn't get to eat at the Black Bear restaurant because they closed right as we arrived and set up our camper. Looking forward to trying it next time. The Indian Lodge looks great with all the improvements recently made.”
